UGM secures its place as a Sustainable World-Class University in the 2024 UI GreenMetric Rankings. The award was announced during the International Seminar & Award Ceremony held at the Universidade de São Paulo, Brazil, on December 12, 2024. An official honor was granted at Universitas Padjadjaran, Bandung, on December 17, 2024.
The 2024 UI GreenMetric ranks UGM 27th worldwide and 3rd in the local range. Representing UGM, Vice Rector for Planning, Assets, and Information Systems, Arief Setiawan Budi Nugroho, S.T., M.Eng., Ph.D., received the acknowledgment directly from the UI GreenMetric Chairman, Prof. Dr. Riri Fitri Sari, M.Sc., MM.
UI GreenMetric is an internationally recognized ranking platform that evaluates universities based on their sustainability performance. Its annual ranking emphasizes the institutional efforts to reduce environmental impact, advance energy efficiency, and promote sustainability-focused education and research.
Universities are assessed across six key indicators of UI GreenMetric: Setting and Infrastructure (SI) at 15%, Energy and Climate Change (EC) at 21%, Waste (WS) at 18%, Water (WR) at 10%, Transportation (TR) at 18%, and Education and Research (ED) at 18%.

UGM has been participating in the UI GreenMetric Rankings since 2018 and has shown great improvements in its rankings since then. Starting from the 91st position to the 27th among 1,477 worldwide universities, UGM successfully demonstrates a serious and meaningful commitment to advance sustainable and eco-friendly campus management.
